HM Patient Family Member
Social workers help the patient and family secure legal and financial assistance, teach personal coping techniques, and counsel patients and family members. They also put families in touch with other community resources that may be needed.
The hospice chaplain provides non-denominational counsel to any patient or family member who requests it. Such counsel helps patients and families cope with feelings of guilt, anger, frustration and sorrow. Our chaplain works with the family's clergy when possible.
Bereavement support is provided for the family to aid in the healing process. Support groups, one-on-one counseling, a monthly newsletter and telephone correspondence are available to provide comfort. These services are provided for twelve months after the death of a loved one and are available indefinitely.
The 2008 Bereavement Support Group schedule is here.
